24 Jul 2012A look at drought through the years. There’s also a nice article about the design decisions and process that went into it.
An addictive collection of beautiful charts, graphs, maps, and interactive data visualization toys -- on topics from around the world.

It might be more interesting to look at the number of states, counties or proportion of total land that experiences drought in any one year and replace the map with a proportionally coloured treemap etc or just a bar chart for all years. This would provide an understanding of any patterns or periods of extensive drought.
Nice visualisation all the same.
