I am somewhat surprised with San Francisco having a score of 21. Having lived there on and off from 1993 to 2008, some recently gentrified portions were affordable to buy (Western Addition, Hunters Point, Excelsior), but the thought of buying in San Francisco seemed like a pipe dream for many people. I honestly thought the buy/rent ratio in San Francisco would be much higher.

DC looks a little out of whack to me as well — you can still rent cheaper than you can buy. It probably has to do with using 2-bedroom median as the metric.
