Multiple accounts of an event that differ in incidental details but contain the same core storyline actually reinforce the historical reliability of that core storyline. If there were no contradictions, no differences between the accounts of various events in the Bible, historians would treat that as evidence the entire thing was fabricated. The gospels of Matthew and Luke are generally considered to be derived from a previous account called Q, now lost, precisely because there are so many similarities between the two gospels.

I need to see a bit more textual criticism of his own work before I can take him seriously as someone who is able to fairly critique the Bible. Looks like a sloppy cut and paste job.
