Hey, thanks for featuring my map on your blog. This certainly was a fun project to work on. A couple of advantages that I can see with my map over the official Amtrak one:
1) I show all the stations on the network, while Amtrak omits quite a few for clarity.
2) While the Amtrak map shows you that trains go to these destinations, there’s no distinction between the different routes on their map – one could almost think that you could catch one train from New York to Los Angeles, looking at their map.
Amtrak also strangely shows the route between New Orleans and Jacksonville (the Sunset Limited) which hasn’t run – for one reason or another – since Hurricane Katrina. Old map?
For visitors, I’d love feedback and comments on this map (especially any errors that you may find!), either here, on my blog or on my Flickr page.
