I’m not expert enough on any of these to say whether this is accurate or not. A clear explanation of what the different colors and line widths would have been helpful.

I recently came across this unusual but very creative interactive map of the worlds religions of the past 6000 years. The map is at http://williame.github.com/map_of_worlds_religions/ and an article describing its making at http://williamedwardscoder.tumblr.com/post/37291851878/making-the-history-of-worlds-religions-map

So, what’s the message? That only European polytheistic religions die?

All of likely have at least one error. The first one shows Islam as separate from Christianity and Judaism, but they explicitly consider themselves an offshoot.

To the chart-makers: Is there any evidence of Judaism from before the 11th century BCE? Is there any evidence of the prevalence of monotheistic Yahweh worship before the 6th century BCE? Do we still believe Bible stories without criticism?

Catholicism started with The apostle Peter at the very beginning of Christianity. He was the first pope. ( Mt. 16:19).

Vedas are older than Indus Valley civilization are indicated by several pointers.. (1) Vedas do not know of brick but Indus valley is only brick. And Indus valley is about 2500 BC.
(2) Saraswati river was drying by the time Mahabharata war broke out. And Saraswati completely dried by 1900 BC.
(3) Internal dating of Mahabharata based on astronomical phenomenon like eclipses etc, tell us that Mahabharata took place about 3100 BC. So Vedas are much older than that. That alone would take the date of Rigveda to at least 4000 BC.
Thus Hinduism must be at least 4000 BC.

Would like to see the size of each as well. Or another chart where the size of the bars corresponds to the population size.
Thanks.

What a mess! This is why there will always be war(conflict) here on earth b/c how can two walk together except they agree? There is only one faith. That faith began with Adam to Noah to Abraham to David to Jesus Christ and the faith of His apostles and their teachings.

Not to mean but the theory that Christianity is the one and only true religion is questionable. I say this because if you follow the Celtic Nordic Mythology from beginning to end or creation to Ragnarok it starts the beginning of Christianity with the three surviving Norse gods one of good neutral and one of evil intent and they recreated the world.
