I just tried to explain this chart to a friend, and came to realize that the graph shows annual investment, not cumulative indebtedness (as I had preeviously thought). To get the total current debt you would have to integrate the area under each layer of the chart. I think the result would be equally impressive, but would have preferred to see that rather than this.
