The single government unemployment stat that the news media bandies about only tells a small portion of the truth. In fact, it is deceptive without the proper context. This visualization is insightful in the way it strips away the noise. It provides the proper context necessary to understand the real numbers. Unemployed means unemployed. Newly filing for unemployment only means newly filing for unemployment. There is a huge difference between those two numbers and what they measure. Great job bizintelguru!
